Mutton Biriyani by Shabana Choudhury using Shahi Biryani Masala

This wonderful recipe, using Veerappa Shahi Biryani Masala, has been submitted by Ms Shabana Choudhury.

Mutton 500 gm
Basmati rice 500 gm (Pre-soaked for one hour)
Onion 3 medium (sliced) Tomatoes 3 (coarsely chopped)
Potatoes 3 (Peeled and cut in halves )
Ginger paste 1 tbsp
Garlic paste 1 and half tbsp
Yogurt 1 cup
Ghee 1 cup
Veerappa Shahi Biriyani masala 2 tbsp full
Few drops of kewra water

Process of cooking: 
1-Heat ghee fry onion till they turn golden. Take out keep aside.

2- In the same ghee add tomatoes and fry till tomatoes become soft and oil separates.  Add meat, ginger garlic paste fry for 1 to 2 mins. Whenever half done the meat then add yogurt, potatoes and Shahi Biriyani masala fry further for 5 to 7 mins. Then add 2 cups of water cover and cook on low heat until meat becomes tender.

3-In a separate pan add approx 2 litre water add 2 tbsp of salt, 1 tbsp oil, big cardamom 1 , small cardamom 3 to 4, black pepper about 12 , some mint leaves and boil then add soaked rice. When rice is cooked more than half remove from heat and strain water.

4- Now spread prepared masala on rice in two layers and on top spread brown onion, fresh mint, fresh coriander, one fourth tsp red colour, ghee , saffron mixed in half cup lukewarm milk and sprinkles few drops of kewra water .

5- Now cover and cook on low heat until rice is tender (about 12 to 15 mins) Mix before serving . Done it Biriyani enjoy with Raita and green chutneys 😊
